I tried everything. I have a couple of PCs on the network, and wireless, so I was able to search for answers. This usually works.
On this occasion there is nothing on line, about how to fix it. On top of that there is not Microsoft bug fix either!
My fixer reported :
Found issue with NIC not connecting via correct Profile. Issue with 2
Profiles work & public being active on single NIC (issue
found in Windows Vista & 7). Reset NIC and working
correctly after reset. Checked for any outdated driver on
NIC but all current. Internal network tested and
connection to internet. Working and picking up IP via
DHCP correctly. No further issues found.

Looking this up on Wikipedia, the NIC is:
A network interface controller (NIC) (also known as a network interface card, network adapter, LAN adapter and by similar terms).
So next time I am stuck, I have this post saved and bookmarked!
